Are you a sports car enthusiast? That may answer the question that you love this new Ford GT which was unveiled back in 2015 at an event known as NAIAS, North American International Auto Show as concept and also the vehicle was showcased in Forza Motorsport 6. This car is purely and purely designed for the race-track which is very much evident from its various lack in some of the basic facilities. If I ask myself that I'm gonna purchase a brand new 400,000$ Ford GT but I cannot use it to travel and the only usefulness of this vehicle is on a racetrack then that is a really questionable purchase for me. Lets talk about the problems with the car first. The boot space in the car's front is really really small. Fitting a small backpack would be a challenge, but you can easily accommodate some water bottles. There will be a first aid kit pack provided by the company.
First things first, this piece of art is the product of the state of the art technology at the Ford facility and hence, Ford GT's visual aesthetics are really appealing. The car looks gorgeous and stunning. Aerodynamic design is astounding. Body of the vehicle is made by carbon fibre to lower down the weight which provides a major boost in top speed and acceleration. I would say, all the weight saving techniques applied by Ford really worked out and the car is under-weighed to its competitors. Rear wing of the car adjusts itself and produces required down-force. It also provides 'air breaking' by tilting at certain angles to produce down force. Headlights looks pretty and futuristic.
Interiors of the car are again mind blowing and are specifically designed in a manner to be sufficient for a racing vehicle. Interiors are mostly made up of carbon fibre to save weight and yet they give a premium super car feel. Steering wheel is equipped with all the buttons which are found on the turn indicator and wiper-washer levers and by even just the looks of the wheel gives a feeling of a formula-1 car. Those levers were eliminated because of the fact that the seats are NOT ADJUSTABLE. You cannot move your seat back and forth, up and down. The seats are fixed on their positions because Ford believed that installing seats like the regular cars will increase the weight significantly and they wanted to avoid the weight gain. Besides, seats inclination can be adjusted. The position of the foot pegs are adjustable. They can be moved to and fro. Ford provided only the points to install racing harness instead providing the whole utility belts because there was a chance that the US regulations will declare the vehicle as a racing car which will in turn make the car illegal to run on streets.
The vehicle comes with the multimedia system equipped with navigation system and climate control. Drivers display is really a thing of beauty. It shows all of the important information to the driver with ease and feels really nice to eyes. Besides, the layout changes beautifully with the change in driving mode without missing anything important for the driver. Ford really worked hard on this.
Ford GT 2017 comes up with a newly designed 3.5 L v6 Ecoboost engine which generates 647 hp power and 746 n-m torque. According to Ford, GT has the best available power to weight ratio available in any production car, thanks to the lightweight carbon fibre construction. Engine is a very strong part of the car which makes it unique in its segment. It is placed on the rear-middle part of the car and powers the rear wheels, making the car layout to be RMR. Due to the v6 assembly, the car lacks the engine roar which was produced by the v8 in the predecessor version. Yet, it doesn't fail to entertain the driver with its abilities.
New suspension and chassis of this beast are very-very cool. Ford GT has an active suspension which lowers and increases the ride height for the high speeds it can achieve and also that this car can pass speed bumps without any problem. The most important and lovely thing about the active suspension is that they can be controlled by the driver and the ride height changes almost instantly with the press of a button.
This vehicle is a true beast on the race track. Ford's new GT has also taken part in the Le Mans race in the month of June. Also mentioned earlier, the car comes up with the price tag of 400,000$ which is worth for the GT fans. Ford has selected a target of making only 250 models per year and yet they already have received over 700,000 applications from the car buyers, proving that the people are really excited to get their hands on this piece of beast inside a beauty.
